NEW FEATURES
One of the most striking features is the water-cooled top cover. This top cover incorporates several new, innovative features. It features a water-cooled element that absorbs radiant heat from the engine. This results in a significant temperature reduction in the engine compartment of up to 15°C – a reduction of 20%! Furthermore, the solid aluminum top cover significantly reduces engine noise. In combination with the new air filter, tests show that the noise level has been reduced by approximately 5 dB(A), and at a cruising speed of approximately 2200 rpm, the engine is "whisper-quiet". Finally, and certainly not unimportant, the water-cooled top cover is designed to be standable, making work around the engine easier.
Furthermore, we have been able to equip the M-line with other new features that have been developed to simplify installation, maintenance and ease of use:
- Service components such as fuses and relays (see A in the image), diesel filter and fuel connections (B), impeller (C), oil dipstick (D) and the oil filter (E) are easily accessible. On the M4 engines, the impeller is located at the front, making it even easier to reach.
- The wiring harness has been modified to facilitate connection and increase safety.
- All M-line engines are equipped with an electric fuel lift pump (F), switched via the ignition switch.
- The new air filter creates a quiet airflow and reduces intake noise (G).
- The heat exchanger has been improved in 26 aspects, including the use of particularly high-quality materials and surface treatments.
- The plastic front cover improves safety and appearance. All pulleys and V-belts are shielded, ensuring that the motors comply with the EC Machinery Directive.
- Optionally, the oil and fuel filter can be mounted on the front, making maintenance even easier (H).
SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE
All the new advantages have of course been implemented without compromising the existing features. With a range from 12 to 42 hp (9 – 31 kW), the VETUS M-line is the preferred choice of many boat builders. Customers can count on the highest level of service when they choose a VETUS marine diesel, along with high quality, honest and professional advice. When you have a VETUS marine diesel, you benefit from the following advantages:
- Super quiet, smooth-running and economical engines for optimum comfort.
- High power/torque for robust and strong engines.
- For convenience, all engines are equipped with an automatic fuel vent in case you unexpectedly run out of fuel.
- All VETUS marine diesel engines comply with the European ISO 8178-1 and Russian RRR standards. A number of them also meet the BSOII emission standards.
- High alternator power, specially developed for marine applications, ensuring your batteries are recharged quickly. An extra second alternator is available as an option for the M4 engines.
- A number of engines are available as a "powerpack" or for hydraulic propulsion.
- All M-line engines are also available with a sail drive.
- In addition, models M3.29 to M4.55 are also available with SOLAS certification.
